Bonded Metallic Powder Coatings: Sparkle Without the Drift

Metallic finishes are beautiful, but their history is patchy: dry-blended metallics separate in the hopper, drift on the line and change color when you reclaim overspray. Bonded metallics solve that by mechanically fixing the flakes to the powder particles, which is why they have become the standard for repeatable metallic finishes.
How Bonding Works
In a bonded metallic, aluminum or pearl flakes are bonded onto the surface of each powder particle under controlled heat and mechanical energy. The result is a single, homogeneous particle: the flake travels with the powder, charges consistently, and lands on the part in the same proportion as it left the hopper.

- Bonded metallics keep flake and resin together through reclaim, so color stays stable

Color Consistency and Reclaim
Because the flakes are fixed to the particles, the color of a bonded metallic is largely independent of how much powder you reclaim. That matters on long production runs: with dry-blend, reclaimed powder is richer in resin and poorer in flake, so the finish shifts. Bonded metallics let you reclaim with confidence.
